How our car clubs work

How our car clubs work

Our aim is to provide an easy-to-use service that can be run by local members, but with full support from our central team whenever necessary.

Bookings can be made online or via our app. Vehicles are unlocked with your phone, or you can use a smart card if you prefer.

Each club has a WhatsApp group (membership is optional) and our support team is available throughout the week.

To get started, you first need to apply to become a member. We'll check your licence and driving history so that we can get you insured before you start driving.

Once your application is approved (usually within 1 working day), you’ll have the option of meeting a local member who can show you how to use the vehicle (including charging) and answer any questions.

Pricing

Bookings cost £3/hour (with a cap of £42/day) plus 16p/mile (for the first 150 miles only). There is also a fixed fee of £2.50 per booking.

Electricity costs are included in the price of your booking (where to charge the vehicle depends on whether your local club has its own dedicated charge point).

Help run your local club

Help run your local club

Our clubs are member-run and not-for-profit, which allows us to keep prices low and reward those members who help keep things ticking over.

"Member Coordinators" earn driving credits in exchange for performing monthly safety checks, keeping the vehicle clean, and helping to induct new members.

To qualify as a Member Coordinator, you need to be an active member for at least a month and complete a simple test to ensure you understand what's required.

You can then volunteer for duties like cleaning the car or inducting new members, and can earn credits worth up to £40 per task.

Full details are in our terms and conditions and you can contact us to find out more.

We also offer business accounts for commercial organisations and non-profits. It's a great way to provide access to EVs for your work transport needs without needing to purchase your own vehicles.
